A GOOD PLACE TO LEARN, A GREAT PLACE TO VISIT!
Our farm tour is all about the "FUNdamentals of Farming."
Research shows that children don't know where their food originates.
We provide farm tours that are enjoyed by children and adults. We invite you to come visit our farm and get a hands-on tour of a real working farm.
Our Family Farm tour includes:
a hayride
crops - corn, cotton, soybeans, rice, and hay
farm equipment - antique and modern
fruit, vegetable, herb, and pollination gardens
farm livestock
Topics for school groups are selected to reinforce classroom learning:
the history of the family farm in the United States
the role of the American farmer in the U.S. economy
types of farming
food, fiber, fuel, and feed production
modern technology in agriculture
organic vs. conventional farming
soil erosion and types of soil
natural resources and the environment
renewable and non-renewable resources of fuel
climate, seasons, and the weather.
Teachers will receive educational resource packets and tour objectives. Content is aligned with TN and MS state standards and is designed to help students meet grade level expectations and performance indicators through hands-on learning to reinforce classroom studies.
Farm Safety
All children must be supervised while at the farm.
Wear closed-toe shoes.
Farm Tours:
are available throughout the year
require reservations and a minimum of ten paid admissions
a deposit of $25 is required to reserve a time and date
lasts 11/2 - 2 hours
cost $5/person
can be combined with the Corn Maze in Oct. for $8/person .
Teachers - will receive a resource packet and are admitted free.
