The Neergaard family traces its farming roots to 1721 in Norway. The name means "near the garden." The Neergaards' ancestors came to America is 1848 and settled in Tennessee. Members of the family moved to this Mississippi farm at 14281 State Line Rd, Olive Branch, MS in 2000. The farm headquarters are within ten miles of Germantown and Memphis, TN. The Carriage Crossing mall in Collierville is within five miles! Close to the city but out in the country. It is the best of both worlds!
Many members of the Neergaard family are actively involved in the farm operations today. The farm operators are college educated and use modern technology and equipment. They farm about 4,000 acres in Mississippi and Tennessee. It is a diversified family farm focusing on row crop production but they also raise beef cattle, quarter horses, hay, and do custom farming. Modern equipment and technology, such as GPS, are important to the business but so are traditional "country" values: faith, family, and friends.
